It’s Official

Summertime has hit the CLE. Weather is gorgeous, everyone is out in the neighborhood, Indy 500 and Skinnygirl Margarita (which may be my drink for this summer) is in my glass. It seems like we’ve been waiting forever but finally the sun is out and the rain has stopped (at least momentarily).

Which means, two wonderful weekends in a row. Last weekend was fantastic visiting Denise and Lisa for their fabulous birthday bash. Great times with great friends.

This has made me think about my summer plans and what I want to plan. For sure, I am attending Krusty’s Summer Sauce Camp this year. No, this is not an actual camp. Instead, it’s one of the best young professional fundraisers. It’s held at Whisky Island and over 2,000 people attend. Last year I wanted to go but had a wedding to attend that weekend. But this year, my calendar is marked and I am ready. Check out last year’s recap.

As for what else I’ll be doing this summer, that’s TBD. I’d like to at least do a road trip at some point but I’m not completely sure. Anyone have any suggestions on a good long weekend vacation trip location?

Patience, my friends

So I’d love to write about how awesome my weekend was…but well…after a 12 hour day and a tornado scare, I need to finish some work up while watching the Bachelorette. (Not to mention 5 days of timesheets…UGH!)

So here’s a picture of me and Denise, before dinner. More pics to come.

It’s not about the Money, Money, Money

For some reason, this song has been stuck in my head for two days (I actually heard it in Starbucks for some reason).

But this weekend, it’s really not about the money. I’m off to Indy to see a couple of my favorite girls (who I have way too much in common with) to celebrate their lovely birthdays and I am so excited. I’ve been needing some time away and this weekend comes at the exact right time. I’ve pampered myself with new clothes, a spray tan and a relaxation massage and now it’s time to have fun.

Expect a full update Sunday evening with plenty of pictures.

I have To…

I saw this on a friend’s blog and I just had to post it. Especially since I just blogged about tears and this literally had me in tears. How adorable is this?!

Confession

This is hard for me to admit as I think most people would be kind of surprised to find this out about me. Actually I can only think of two people that know this about me.

I’m a….complete…and utter…sap.

I can cry at commercials if they are good enough. TV shows and movies are probably the worst. Weddings, you probably should have a box of Kleenex for me. When the BFF got married, it was full on waterworks. But don’t worry: it’s not just him.

And these are not just little tears…I mean, sometimes I am full on sobbing. Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. Grey’s Anatomy. I’ve even cried over the Bachelor. And no, I’m not kidding (I wish I was). The BFF makes fun of me constantly over this. Right now, as I watch this, I’m sobbing over Grey’s Anatomy. The tears won’t stop. And this is what it is like each and every Thursday.

The other night, for whatever reason, I thought watching the video below was a good idea.

Right…literally before the first clip was finished the sobbing was beginning. That little girl broke my heart. Thank God I’m not a teacher seeing these things in person…I’d be a mess!

And here’s the other two videos, as if the one wasn’t enough for me. (I’ve been a part of watching soldiers coming home so I think that didn’t help the tears.)

And this is just a great reminder to…Thank the Troops every single chance you get.

Sunday Funday

And yet another rainy weekend in the CLE. Seriously, is anyone else over this?! I wouldn’t mind the rain if it didn’t ruin my plans and if it wasn’t so stinkin’ cold out now too!

The weekend started off with the Sugarland concert with my friend Candice. After speeding into Blossom, we found our fabulous seats. Third row behind the pit. Fabulous. I’ve been to many concerts where while the artists are entertaining, but their voices are not always the best. Can I just say, Jennifer Nettles can SANG! By far, this concert was the best I’ve been to as far as actual performance went. Candice and I sang and danced the night away before the rain started as we walked back to my car. I’ll be uploading video soon enough.

Oh, Hey there Kristian!

Onto Saturday, which was the day where the rain really ruined my day. (Not to mention my allergies have officially started to act up – UGH!)

This is how the afternoon started off in the Social Suite (thank you @Tribetalk)

Within minutes (and I am not kidding) of taking this picture, a downpour began. And it continued…and continued….until the game was officially called. And then today’s game was postponed too. Disappointing but it was fun to be in the suite, meet new tweeps, walk around Progressive Field and see Chris Perez (aka: Pure Rage) walk from the bullpen to the dugout with his pants rolled up, shoes and socks in hand, avoiding the puddles on the field.

Looking forward to heading back to the Social Suite in the near future. Great job Indians embracing social media!

So, peeps…what’s everyone looking forward to this week?

Happy Girl

From yesterday’s pet peeves to today’s happy girl. I’m in a fabulous mood. Not a bad day in the office. Some serious laughs with some great coworkers followed by happy hour (and a wonderful dinner) and then making plans for the entire weekend. Tomorrow, Sugarland with Candice. Oh, did I mention we are in the THIRD ROW?! Yes, Please.

Saturday, I’ll be cheering on my Indians from the Social Suite.

What’s the Social Suite you are probably asking. Well, besides being the number one team in baseball, the Indians are also right on the cutting edge of social media. I cannot speak highly enough of the PR department and the job they’ve done. This season they’ve created the “Social Suite”…where users of Twitter/Facebook/Cleveland bloggers are being invited to hang out, watch a game, meet other Social Media users and Tweet/Facebook/Blog during and/or after the game. I’m, of course, excited to have been selected and can’t wait to see what other Tweeps may be at the game.

Note to other Cleveland teams (especially the Browns): Social Media is the way to reach your fans. Interact. Find out what they love about the stadium. What do they dread or can’t stand. Do they love the food? Do they have access to your players? I will say, a number of the Browns players follow me on Twitter and I’ve actually been able to have conversations with them and am trying to meet up at an Indians game with one of them.

Start the conversation.

Look for pics Saturday night and follow me on Twitter for live updates from the game! Yay!

And two Sugarland videos for you. One which The BFF says describes me to a “T” and the other which just reminds me of someone 🙂

If you are lucky, I’ll take pics and video and you’ll get to hear me singing with Jen Nettles (one of the women I want to be like when I grow up).

Pet Peeves

I’m usually a pretty easy-going person, I’d like to think. However, like everyone, there are just a few things that really get under my skin. Like traffic. So imagine my excitement this morning when I leave my house at 7:30 a.m. with the goal of being to work by 8:00 a.m. (absolutely doable) and as I’m about 10 minutes into my drive…dead stop. No flashing lights, no cars off to the side. Immediately, I’m frustrated so decide to get off the highway and take the side streets into downtown (not really having any idea of what way to go…instead, I just focused on the Terminal Tower and headed toward that).

Then, I’m stopped again. So, of course, while I’m literally SITTING in traffic, I take out the trusty iPhone and load Twitter to see what’s going on. To find out that 20,000 people are headed to the Q (Quicken Loans Arena for you non-Clevelanders) for a motivational seminar. Featuring Goldie Hawn (among others…this was just the one that really cracked me up). The upside: literally everyone was late and I tweeted with some fellow frustrated Clevelanders.

Next, pet peeve. When Starbucks runs out of frapp base during half-price frapp week. Um, hello? Do they not know I planned my afternoon around that half-price happy hour with a fellow co-worker? Thank goodness I can be easily pleased by Starbucks and instead had an coffee drink.

And now last pet peeve: why is it that people can not respond, in a timely manner, to a text, call, email or Facebook message? I know, people are busy (myself included) but honestly, how hard is it to respond to a simple question with a yes, no or I don’t know. Especially, if you’ve been on Facebook and/or Twitter…if you’re on those particular social networking sites, don’t you think your phone probably works too? Especially if you are updating your status from your phone?

And now I’m done venting. Anyone else peeved?

This makes me smile at least:

I’m Just a Girl

Most people who know me will attest to the fact that I’m an extremely girly girl. Which often surprises people, as I am the girl who has a male best friend and hangs with the boys every Sunday during Browns season. But besides the Browns, I also love make-up and fashion. I seriously could spend tons of money at a great make-up counter.

I’m the type that has her “must-haves” when it comes to make-up and beauty products. I tend to be pretty picky and the one counter that has never let me down: MAC Cosmetics. I know the make-up artists by name, have their business cards and am updated when new products are coming in or when there’s a big event weekend coming up (i.e. this past Thursday and Memorial Day weekend).

I thought I’d break down exactly what I use on a day-to day basis.

It all starts with a clean face and even though I’ve never had problem acne, I use Pro-Active. This stuff is my go-to. I rarely get zits and have never had issues with this (which is rare since I have sensitive skin). Next, I always and I mean always, use a moisturizer with SPF protection…again sensitive, fair skin. Lately, I’ve been using an Oil of Olay product that’s been fabulous.

Foundation is always an issue for me but I think I’ve finally solved it (thank you MAC counter). Check out this Foundation Finder quiz. It’s seriously perfect. I’m using the mineralized satin finish foundation and loving it. Again, also has SPF protection.

Other must-haves from MAC: Tinted Lipglass (it really doesn’t fade or smear!)

I’m also a fan of their eyeshadow (ask the artist at the counter for some tips – they never cease to amaze me when they pick out new colors that I never would have considered).

For Blush, I have been using a MAC product but my heart will always always always belong to NARS on this one. For over 5 years, I’ve been dedicated to the shade: Orgasm. No, not lying. This shade is perfect for just about everyone I know and occasionally they have a complimentary bronzer to go with it (also available in a lip color). I really have never found a color that I love more and that is more natural. I usually hit up Sephora for that purchase, as well as many others. (Though, I never have been a fan of Super Orgasm…personal opinion – stick with the original.)

What are your go-to products every morning/day?

And again, in honor of Sugarland’s upcoming concert…another fave:

It’s a Crazy, Crazy World

I wanted to write last night, but completely got wrapped up in a million other things. So in the midst of the last few days, history was made and bin Laden was killed. I know
it’s a controversial topic but I was happy. For a number of reasons but for two in particular. Two people who are near and dear to me have served, faithfully, for years. They’ve put themselves in the line of fire, more times than I ever want to know. So Sunday’s news did make me happy. I know it’s just one person, but 9/11 changed our country and it’s a fact that Bin Laden was responsible for that attack.

Okay, that’s my political viewpoint for the week.

Now on to more exciting things. Like our first place Cleveland Indians. I went to my first game of the year on Saturday and it was fabulous. First of all, awesome seats for a not bad price. Second, another sweep. Third, tons of friends were down at the Stadium. And fourth, it was a 13-inning game! How awesome is that?! It made me happy to be down at the Jake (I’m sorry it will always be the Jake to me, not Progressive Field).

And even more exciting…a wedding! I love a fabulous wedding. And my weekend started bright and early on Friday with a gorgeous, lovely and royal wedding. Yes, I was up early and watched the wedding of Will and Kate…aka the Duke and Duchess. I think my mouth literally dropped when I saw Kate’s dress. Not really my personal style but I LOVED this dress. I’m not a big lace girl, but this dress was absolutely stunning. I was totally blown away by the whole wedding but I loved how obvious it was that Will and Kate are really and truly in love. There were so many moments that I totally swooned over. Such as, Harry seeing his sister-in-law walk down the aisle and whisper to his brother “wait till you see her”, or when Will said “You look beautiful” to Kate…awww!!! So precious. It’s just like a Disney movie.

By the way: is anyone watching “The Voice”? I’m adding this to my list of things that I love.

In honor of just slightly over a week until I see Sugarland, one of my favorites that has been in my head since I heard it this morning:
