Certain things just scream summer in Cleveland. Indians baseball. Walnut Wednesday. Summer Solstice at the Art Museum.

Another event that kicks off the season? The Marc’s Great American Rib Cook-Off and Music Festival. Heading into the 24th year, the summer season is underway over Memorial Day weekend, giving Clevelanders the perfect opportunity to get out, enjoy some great food, hear music and soak in the sun.

The event is held at Jacobs Pavilion and Nautica Entertainment Complex, which of course, gives you a great view of the city. This year you can hear music from America, Steel Panther, Michael Stanley & The Resonators, Disco Inferno & The Hot Sauce Committee and regional and local bands. (I peeked a list at some of the performers and am excited to see some local Cleveland favorites on the list!)

Obviously, based on the name, you can expect some serious grilling. Professional and rookie chefs will battle in the annual competition.

Since it’s a family friend event, you can also expect plenty for the kids to do throughout the day/weekend. In addition, discounts are being offered, including free admission on Friday, Saturday and Sunday until 3 p.m.and Dollar Day with adult general admission only $1 is on Monday. Attendees can also save $2 on adult general admission tickets with discount coupons available at all Northeast Ohio Marc’s locations.
