Getting Old

So The BFF’s 30th birthday is literally right around the corner (December 13th – 5 months before my bday to the day). And I have absolutely no idea what to get him – at all.

Typically we don’t do birthday gifts. We did back in the day (up until we turned 21). The last few years, our birthdays typically include: birthday greetings via phone call and our usual BFF birthday lunch, where we obviously, go to lunch together to celebrate.

(BFF birthday lunch for my birthday probably 2005 or 2006)

With The BFF turning 30 though, I feel like I should do something to celebrate this momentous occasion (however, when I turn 30, I’d prefer no one discuss the day and leave me be as I lay in fetal position in bed all day). I know he’s not having a birthday party (rather spending a child-free evening/day with his wife) but I still want to get him something. So far my ideas include: gift card to use for a dinner out with his wife and the Dawson’s Creek Series Finale on DVD. No, I’m not kidding.

I need help people. What would you get your best friend of 15 years for his/her 30th birthday?!

Cleveland Bachelor Scene

(I’m a couple weeks late on this one but what can ya do? Busy girl here)

Another reason I love Cleveland – our adorable Bachelors that have totally caused girls everywhere to swoon.

That’s right – two years in a row a Clevelander won the Cosmo Magazine Bachelor of the Year. Who knew Cleveland had such good looking men? (No seriously – where are they?).

Gotta give some love though to Chris Van Vliet – this year’s Bachelor of the Year. Not only does he love his city, but he’s willing to write the check to show the love. Chris donated his $10,000 award check to the Boys and Girls Club of Cleveland. Let’s review ladies – good looking (check), generous (check), Clevelander (check), good looking (check), Browns fan (check) and one more time, good looking (check!)

And gotta give Mickey some love too – our 2010 Bachelor of the year, who also appeared on The Bachelorette this year (and can I say, I loved his exit – done dealing with Ashley so he literally rolled right out!)

Alright ladies, let’s all just take a deep breath.

Seriously though, thanks to these two Clevelanders for reppin’ our city on a National scale!

Tomorrow, Tomorrow

I’ll love ya tomorrow….

Yes, I’m losing my mind from a lack of sleep. Just one day this week I wish I would have gotten a good sleep. But no, instead I went out with a few of my favorite Cleveland bloggers/advertising and PR peeps, drank too much Christmas Ale, baked at 11:00 p.m. for a very LS Thanksgiving, stayed up late cleaning and watching Private Practice and then had an early car appointment for new tires (which by the way – what a difference a new set of tires makes!)

Some fantastic people!

Lisa, Seanski and I – post a couple Christmas Ales (and I’m back to brunette)

During the night out, I also had my first Christmas Ale of the season…okay I may have indulged in more than one multiple times this week. What can I say? It’s another reason I love this city.

Needless to say, I’m looking forward to a weekend of sleeping in. That’s right — not going to the Factory of Sadness for Sunday’s Browns game. I just can’t. It’s just more heartbreak and after this week, I just don’t know how much more of that I can handle. And I’m not the only one.

(Need a Factory of Sadness shirt? Check it out here)

Moving on, I’m going to be soon starting a Friday feature – Fabulous Friday. Where I’ll be posting something…well, fabulous. It could be a beauty product, fashion, an advertisement/PR/Social media campaign, a night out with friends or just someone that I consider Fabulous. Watch for it next week, kids!

Favorite part of the week though? Being reminded of all the fantastic people in my life that I’ve been able to meet through work, through other friends and that I’ve known for years. The two therapy sessions I had with the BFF helped too.

And I’m Back

From my home state away from home – Indiana. I literally was in Indiana more than I was in Ohio this past week…not that I’m complaining. All in all, pretty good week and a half.

And somehow I only managed one picture the entire weekend…what’s up with that?

Yes, I was showing my Browns pride…despite this past season. I mean, honestly – can we just win a game here and there?

Can I just say how unbelievably excited I am for this upcoming week? New hair cut/color tomorrow, Happy Hour with some of my favorite Clevelanders/fellow bloggers, dinner with friends where I’ll be indulging in Great Lakes Christmas Ale and Christmas Ale ice cream (yum!).

So, Clevelanders – how was your weekend?

Writer’s Block

I tried to write a number of blogs this week and it clearly wasn’t working.

I just came back from a client road trip, I’m a little tired and now I need to pack for my weekend away…back in Indiana (yes, I’m going to be in Indiana more this week than in Cleveland).

But I did just catch up on the CMA’s (Country Music Awards) and gotta say – there was some serious talent on that show this year. I loved it! One of my favorite performances though – Faith Hill. She’s back and as good as ever. And who doesn’t love her and Tim together…so damn adorable.

Alright, kids – I’m off for the weekend. A recap will be in store next week and hopefully this case of writer’s block will have disappeared.

Sunday, Sunday

Sundays typically make me happy. But then around 4pm lately, it’s just been down right depressing. The Browns are breaking my heart more than any boy has ever broke it. I really thought this was the year. I thought Peyton Hillis and Colt McCoy were the answers to our years of questions.

But…apparently not. So another year, another heartbreaking season.

And then there’s this whole “fall back” time change. I actually enjoyed the extra hour of sleep – and seriously slept a good 9 hours I think. But when I got home from watching the game and dinner and it was already dark out (and not even 7pm), I just got depressed. It’s so hard for me to want to go out and be social in the winter and the minute I saw the dark, it reminded me of that.

I’m off for a couple of days for a little road trip to visit a client, in good old Shelbyville, Indiana. I’m sure the tweets from the road will be interesting (they usually are). Then after being back for a few days, the plan is to head back to Indiana.

That state must love me.

Weekends

I absolutely love my weekends. For the first time in months, I slept in today (and by slept in, I mean until 9:15 which needless to say, is better than the usual 7am wakeup). Laundry is going, Starbucks is in hand, good music is on Spotify, I’m blogging and doing some general updating and the sun is out. Seriously peeps, it’s going to be a great weekend.

(The Starbucks red cups make me happy too…and makes me want to decorate for Christmas!)

Last night I met up with one of my favorite people in the world and went to dinner at Sweet Melissa’s for the first time. Let’s just say – it’s to die for. It was absolutely delicious. Plus who doesn’t love catching up with a great friend/mentor over a glass of wine and a fantastic meal?

Today, life in general calls and I need to be focused on getting things done around my little, cute home.

And, let’s be honest – it’s not much longer that we’ll be seeing sun in C-town.

What’s your favorite thing to do on lazy/productive Saturdays?

Change

I get bored….easily. Hence the reason that I often change my hair color and length. My hair stylist never knows what to expect when I come back every 6-8 weeks. She’s been doing my hair for six years and I can’t even count the number of hair styles and colors we’ve gone through…super blonde (my natural color last time I checked), mid-brown, chocolate brown, blonde highlights, black lowlights, red highlights….the list goes on.

Needless to say, after being blonde again for about 6 months, I’m bored. So I’m starting to look at new styles and this one I fell in love with today…LOVE!
